Web Hosting : Forum Hosting
All of our Web Hosting plans with CGI-bin access have the ability to run Forum and Bulletin Board software.
One of the most popular Forum/Bulletin Board software is UBB (Ultimate Bulletin Board) by InfoPOP. It is feature-packed, fast, and relatively easy to install. There are two version of UBB: UBB.classic and UBB.threads.
UBB.classic runs on virtually any account with CGI-bin access and Perl installed (most of our plans include this).
UBB.threads is functionally the same as UBB.classic, but also requires a database (available with our MySQL database), and has a couple more features that are useful for large forums.
Feature-wise they are both very similar. The main difference is that UBB.threads is designed for much higher loads and traffic, and thus under heavy load is faster. However, for most uses UBB.classic works perfectly fine and is cheaper, so unless you have (or plan to have) a big or high traffic forum or bulletin board, then we would suggest UBB.classic. You can view a complete comparsion between the two versions here.
Alternative software which is also popular for large/popular forums or bulletin boards is vBulletin by Jelsoft. Similar to UBB.threads, it also requires a database (available with our MySQL database) and is also designed for high traffic websites.
Once your Web Hosting account with us is up and running, you can click the above links to purchase the software and install it any time. Make sure you purchase the correct version of the software, or you may be unable to use it properly.
